Max Re turnover boostMax Re Capital has reported first quarter net income of $43m, up from $14.6m in the first quarter of 2003. Gross written premiums from the company's property and casualty underwriting business for the quarter were $439.5m, up from the $430.5m recorded for the first quarter of 2003.

Axis Capital 56% riseAxis Capital has reported a 56% increase in its net income for the first quarter of 2004. The Bermuda-based company said net income had grown to $166m, up from $107m for the same period in 2003. Gross written premiums were up 72% to $1bn, compared with $608m for the first quarter of 2003

Marsh & McLennan riseMarsh & McLennan Companies reported consolidated revenue of $3.2bn for the quarter ending 31 March 2004. This represented a 13% increase on the $2.9bn reported in first quarter of 2003. Operating income increased 14% to $637m.

Willis income boostWillis Group Holdings has reported net income of $148m for the quarter ending 31 March 2004. The 2004 result compares with the $117m reported for the same period in 2003. Willis said adjusted net income increased 30% to $160m for the quarter, up from $123m for the comparable period in 2002.
