Interest group
Airmic members have formed a Business Continuity Planning (BCP) special interest group in the wake of 11 September. It will cover a selection of industries and organisations within the commercial, voluntary and public sectors.

Mission statement
A new mission statement and set of strategic aims was expected to be approved at the Airmic annual meeting. The association has announced that it intends to change its strategic direction in order to emphasise the need for optimum business risk management. The mission statement to be voted on would be a change from "raising the standards and profile of risk management to develop excellence in business risk management and support the effective use of insurance".

No focus on risk
Even the horrific events of the World Trade Centre (WTC) attacks have not been enough to ensure all UK companies focus on risk management and business continuity planning. Airmic council member Nick Chown said companies must have comprehensive plans in place now.
