Record turnoverThe Erinaceous Group, parent company of broker Hannover Park, recorded turnover of £3.6m for the year to 31 March 2004, up 21%. Operating profits for its insurance operations increased 91% from £700,000 to £1.3m. These were the company's first full year results since listing on the AIM in November 2003.

Lloyd's slip boostSlip quality has improved since the use of the LMP slip was mandated at the beginning of 2004, claimed Lloyd's. In its first report since the change was implemented, Lloyd's said slip quality had improved to 83%, up from 70% last year.

Optimum growth Risk management company Optimum Risk Solutions has opened a second office in Scotland. The expansion comes less than a year after it began operations, the company announced.

S&P takes on IFASelect & Protect (S&P) has added IFA firm The Lighthouse Group to its network of product distributors. Under the terms of the deal, Select & Protect products will be distributed throughout Lighthouse-Loan.

Safety training gapLack of health and safety training is leaving employees unnecessarily exposed to danger, Norwich Union said. Recent figures from the Health & Safety Executive showed that 40% of those with health and safety responsibility had either "not very much" or no training at all.

HeadWellington Underwriting will expand into US speciality business. The move follows its proposed acquisition of AXA Corporate Solutions Excess and Surplus Lines Insurance Company. Wellington said substantial agreement had been reached with the company on the terms of acquisition, and it said it expected a conditional purchase agreement would be signed shortly.
