Stuart Alexander is poised to make the first in a string of acquisitions as the new year approaches.
The broker's chief executive, Stuart Reid, confirmed that two in a line of eight purchases would be made in the next couple of months.
This comes amid speculation that Stuart Alexander was looking at a Southampton-based high net worth broker and a London broker worth in the region of £10m.
Reid would not confirm which companies Stuart Alexander was targeting because of confidentiality agreements. But he played down the suggestions that the Southampton broker was a target.
He said: "We look at acquisitions all the time. A couple are quite close, with six or seven to follow. In a flat market it's a good way to grow."
He added that there was opportunity to expand in the South and South West.
