In a continuation of its major acquisition programme, insurance broker Swinton has acquired Safeguard, the motor caravan insurance specialist.
All Safeguard's employees are to be retained by Swinton. Swinton will service the motor caravan policies from Safeguard's Leeds premises.
The acquisition is Swinton's 17th in three months. Other acquisitions include Redcliffe Brunel's personal and commercial business, the personal lines business of Personal Lines Limited, and the purchase of The Insurance Centre.
Swinton's director, Peter Halpin, said its Acquisitions Team is progressing a number of other deals.
He added: "2001 was a busy year for us with Swinton completing in excess of 30 deals. We intend to expand on this activity this year as we believe that many opportunities exist nationwide to grow by acquisition."
