Rating agency Moody's will become the first agency to offer financial strength ratings for each of the 123 syndicates at the Lloyd's of London insurance market.

It already assigns performance and volatility ratings to the syndicates but will soon issue credit ratings, allowing direct comparison to other rated commercial insurers and reinsurers.

Moody's expects syndicates ratings to range between Aa (excellent) and Baa (adequate) due to the potential benefits from the Central Fund resources.

Some syndicates could even be rated Aaa (exceptional) with appropriate third party support.
