The Innovation Group (TIG) has paid £1m to acquire the remaining part of Microrescue Systems not already owned by the group. TIG bought 26% of the company in November 2000 as part of its acquisition of Motorcare.

TIG said the purchase completed the group's strategy of providing an in-house specialist application hosting capability for Motorcare, which provides motor accident and breakdown management services to the insurance industry.

Microrescue has developed technologies specifically to control vehicle accident and breakdown management, focusing on supply chain management, electronic procurement and work management techniques.

As an integral part of Motorcare, TIG said Microrescue would enable the operation to fast-track the development of its facilities management and application service provider strategies for its customer base.

Rob Terry, chairman and chief executive of TIG, said: “This acquisition enables us to embed a single IT facility within Motorcare for its entire European operations.”
