Towergate Underwriting Group has announced the acquisition of specialist liability underwriting agency, Northern Underwriters.

Northern Underwriters, based in Stokesley, near Middlesbrough, currently controls around £25m of gross written premium, predominantly in the SME sector.

Towergate recently announced proposals to merge with intermediaries, the Folgate Partnership, in 2005.
