Towergate boss David Ross lavished praise on his staff after scooping Transformational Deal of the Year.

Tuxedo-suited Ross picked up the gong at the British Insurance Awards in London’s Albert Hall last night and lauded ’the dedication and resilience of our people’.

Towergate won the award for the group’s refinancing led by Highbridge Principle Strategies.

Ross said the deal had stabalised the company and positioned it for growth.

He highlighted the improvement in staff culture and the IT transformation as major positives since the deal.

Ross said: “It’s great to see we’ve been recognised for the work we’ve been doing over the last two years to transform this organisation.

“What a brilliant surprise – we were so proud last night to pick up this trophy. It’s a testament to the dedication and resilience of our people. When you think about where our company was and where it is now, it’s quite extraordinary. And the best is yet to come.”

Other winners included Aviva for general insurer of the year, XL Catlin for commercial lines insurer and Covea for personal lines insurer.
