Loss adjusters Miller Fisher is developing a new computer software designed to root out fraudulent activities.
The new software, Fraudscope, is being developed by Miller Fisher in partnership with technology company Uplex.
It tracks the trends in the behaviour of claimants and identifies potentially fraudulent claims by identifying unusual claims patterns.
Miller Fisher chief executive for business development, Bev Fitzgerald, said the new product was a "sophisticated tool in the war against fraudulent claims".
He added: "In an environment where fraud is running at record highs, this is good news for our clients and policyholders."
Miller Fisher has entered into the joint venture with Uplex for the marketing of Fraudscope on an exclusive basis.
According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), fraud costs insurers more than £600m a year.
