Broker Simon Burgess of Ultraviolet has issued a High Court writ against IFA network Burns-Anderson alleging a breach of trade mark law.

The company has registered a series of three word marks: Ultra-Violet, Ultra-violet and Ultra Violet. Burns-Anderson has an application for the trade mark “UV”.

The claim alleges that Burns-Anderson used a number of signs “identical to, or alternately similar to, the services for which the claimant's mark is registered”.
