‘I’m deeply honoured to take up the role of disability and access ambassador for insurance – a sector that empowers people to navigate life’s uncertainties with confidence,’ says appointee
The government’s Office for Equality and Opportunity has appointed Edward Grant to the role of disability and access ambassador for insurance.
The ambassador role is a voluntary position that holds a maximum tenure of three years and is supported by the Office for Equality and Opportunity’s disability unit.
Grant has a 30 year history in financial planning and services. Positions he has held include president of the Personal Finance Society, board member of the European Financial Planning Association and vice president of the Insurance Institute of London.
The minister for social security and disability, Sir Stephen Timm MP, said the role will help “ensure that businesses are doing all they can to support their disabled customers and employees”.

The new appointee said: “I’m deeply honoured to take up the role of disability and access ambassador for insurance – a sector that empowers people to navigate life’s uncertainties with confidence.

“Both personally and professionally, I’m acutely aware of the barriers many disabled people face. That awareness drives my unwavering commitment to championing meaningful, lasting change across our profession.
“Through the vulnerability roundtables hosted by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), and the insightful FCA Financial Lives survey, it is evident that while much progress has been made over the years, there is still more we can do to ensure that the insurance and financial planning sector is creating opportunities and delivering outstanding client outcomes for all.”

He graduated in 2017 from the University of Manchester with a degree in Geology. He spent the first part of his career working in consulting and tech, spending time at Citibank as a data analyst, before working as an analytics engineer with clients in the retail, technology, manufacturing and financial services sectors.View full Profile
