A major fire in the centre of Bolton, Lancashire, has destroyed a luxury women's garment

factory, causing up to £500,000 worth of damage.

Sean Fitzgerald of Davies Loss Adjusters in Manchester, who is investigating the blaze, said: “This was a very fast-spreading fire and the blaze was so ferocious that the whole building will have to be demolished.

“The premises and all the businesses contents have been completely destroyed.”

The building had recently been refurbished and contractors were finishing off some work to the roof at the time of the blaze.

The fire is thought to have started on the roof.
