A round-up of the latest insurance stories online

Almost exactly a year since Aviva announced its ambitious move into corporate risks, the insurer created headlines again with a major appointment. It announced it was hiring Zurich’s UK global corporate chief executive David Hall to oversee its corporate risks and specialty lines business. The news was of great interest to our online readership, who logged on to the site in large numbers.

Back in June, when Aviva named Mitsui's Dipak Warren as its corporate risks leader, the news featured prominently in the weblog rankings. This week, Hall’s appointment tops the list.

It was closely followed by a story that is also no weblog virgin. In fact, West Ham FC's claim for compensation over the injury suffered by retired ex-striker Dean Ashton while on England duty has been rumbling on for a while.

It took a fresh twist when club vice-chairman Karren Brady revealed in a newspaper column that the club had begun legal action against the FA and its insurers. Our online readers appeared to enjoy our story detailing this latest development.

They were also able to read first on the website about concerns over Aon's new fee restructure – before the article appeared in last week’s issue of the magazine.

Janice Deakin's blog made a return to the top 10 this week. Read the Aviva intermediary and partnerships director’s regular updates on the site along with our other blog contributors.

The debt crisis in Ireland continues to hit the headlines on the web and in our subscriber-only channels where we looked at how insurers could be affected.

Also, remember to keep an eye on the site for full coverage of the Insurance Times Awards.
