The latest insurance stories online

The “R” word made its way back to computer screens last week as it became official that we are out of recession.

But as online users digested the news that the UK economy had increased by just 0.1% between October and December last year, they would have been left feeling that it had limped rather than sprinted over the line.

That was certainly the message on websites – and there was no lack of coverage to keep online users interested.

On the Telegraph website, enterprise editor Richard Tyler outlined the key issues in a blog titled “Recession over, at least for now”.

The Economist’s website, meanwhile, compared the most recent recessions in rich countries in a story titled “Not much of a party”.

Guardian visitors hungry for recession-related news could read a blog live from the briefing on Britain’s economic state, held at the Office for National Statistics in London.

Sky News’s site hosted a picture gallery filled with recession-related images while, over on Twitter, a deluge of thoughts tweeted away on the recovery.

Away from the economic news, there was still plenty going on at insurancetimes.co.uk. The most popular story detailed CCV’s first deal of the year, closely followed by the report, broken exclusively on insurancetimes.co.uk, “Gallagher ousts HSBC from $30m account”, which was a massive hit with online readers, particularly those in the London market.

Keep an eye out for the latest blogs and “Five things you didn’t know about …”, published first on the website.
