Willis has created a nine-strong sales division to pursue an aggressive global marketing approach.

It will be headed by Mario Vitale, who was appointed executive vice-president in November.

He has now created a further eight jobs to drive forward the scheme and create a new group-wide sales and marketing division.

The new roles are:

  • three global sales directors covering business in North America, the UK and the rest of the world. Two have now been recruited
  • a global sales manager to analyse sales in the pipeline, organise products and client panels, handle communications with carrier data and focus on global carrier strategy
  • a co-ordinator to bring together on a group-wide basis the company's presentations and publications
  • two global market management roles to handle strategic clients in North America and the rest of the world.

Rowan Douglas, founder and managing director of WIRE, the leading developer of ebusiness products and services for risk and insurance markets which was taken over by Willis Group on February 23, will head the ebusiness side.
