Is Michael Winner the most irritating man on Earth? And are the young bright things in the Direct Line advertisement the most drippy couple ever?

Well, according to a survey published last week, the UK's viewing public will always go for the remote once the Esure and Direct Line adverts appear on screen.

The report said that Michael Winner was "always irritating so why would an advert in which he is patronising be any exception".

The Direct Line ad has a "drippy boy" who uses his money saved from Direct Line "to do drippy things to prove his love for a drippy girl".
