Lloyd's managing agent XL Brockbank is set to announce the discontinuation of some lines of business.

Active underwriter for XL Brockbank syndicates 861 and 1209 Nick Metcalfe said accident and health would be affected, but would not confirm in which syndicates the changes would occur.

This week, Lloyd's issued a breakdown of estimated losses. While the Lloyd's Mar-ket is expected to make a 15% loss, certain syndicates - two of which are XL Brockbank's - will have more losses.

Syndicate 861, which had capacity of £155m, is predicting a loss of 47.5% to 52.5%. Syndicate 1209, which was writing £232m, has forecasted a loss of 40% to 45%.
