AIG has appointed Steve Cousins as the UK head of commercial property.

He will report to Jacqueline McNamee, the UK commercial lines executive director, and the property executive in the US and Canada region, Erik Nikodem.

Jacqueline McNamee said: “I am delighted to welcome Steve to his new role, where he will have responsibility for leading us through our next phase of evolution in this market.

“Steve will retain his role overseeing Lex London (formerly Lexington) and will work to build on the collective strengths of both the Lexington and UK commercial property teams.”

Cousins has 34 years’ experience in the insurance industry, beginning his career in 1979 with RSA.

He joined Lexington in 1985 and following a short spell at a small London market company between 1990 and 1994 rejoined Lexington in 1994.
