Around 2,000 Aon employees working in the broker's managed solutions group face an uncertain future after the broker refused to rule out redundancies as part of its review of the business.

An Aon spokesman said this week it was too early to discuss what options were being considered in the review.

A final decision on the future of the managed solutions business will be made at the end of 2003.

"We are looking to see how in line our managed solutions business is with the rest of our core businesses," said the spokesman.

Parts of the business under review include:

  • Aon claims management - a dedicated claims operation including claims adjusting units
  • Aon health solutions - advises on all aspects of employee risk management including the provision of primary and occupational health schemes
  • Aon property solutions - provides products which cover home-related repairs and emergencies
  • Aon IRISC - deals with claims made against the DTI for industrial diseases
  • Aon motor solutions - manages all aspects of company fleet accidents and incidents
  • Aon travel solutions - provides 24-hour worldwide medical assistance and repatriation services
  • The claims office - specialises in the handling of travel-related claims such as lost luggage, medical expenses, missed departure and cancellation.
