What is there to complain about this week?

Grumbles

Direct Line and AXA topped the list for most insurance complaints in the second half of 2011, with 1,611 and 1,299, respectively. This was amid a sharp fall in PPI complaints received in the same period compared with the first half.

Flooding

While central government dithers over renewing its Statement of Principles on flood insurance, the Local Government Association hit out at insurers who “hand pick” the best risks, potentially leaving home owners and local authorities with an £11bn bill.

Ban

The FSA has banned a Blackburn-based insurance broker for being incompetent and incapable. Mukhtar Khan, of United Finance and Insurance Services, was barred from trading after an FSA review.
