From the Claims Excellence Awards to the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final, it's been another big week

Wednesday

The Insurance Times UK Claims Excellence Awards 2011 was good fun – the event is sure to go from strength to strength. Loved the bagpipers.

Thursday

PYV’s bosses are off to Howden, part of Hyperion – which is due to float in a year’s time. That’s one to watch.

Friday

I’m hearing about more woes for the solicitors’ professional indemnity market. Looks like there’s going to be a lot of capacity around again this year and that’s likely to keep rates down.

Monday

Recovering from a great weekend. Enjoyed a stag do, with the main event being the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final between Leicester and Saracens. Fantastic game, nail-biting in the last few minutes. Then it was off to the pub to watch Barcelona trounce Man United. I successfully bet evens on Barcelona to win in 90 minutes, so the drinks were on me.

Tuesday

Time to write up another week’s work …

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
