History:
AXA Insurance is one of the UK's top three general insurance providers, with a network of
20 commercial branches, more than 5,000 staff and a gross written premium in excess of £2bn.
It is the general insurance arm of AXA UK, which in turn is part of the AXA Group, the provider of financial protection and wealth management to 50 million customers worldwide.
1990 - AXA Insurance is formed in Cardiff.
1994 - Union des Assurances de Paris (UAP) buys the provincial insurance company.
1996 - AXA is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and Sun Life Provincial Holdings (SLPH) is listed on the London Stock Exchange. The AXA group merged with the UAP. Since UAP has been a major shareholder in Sun Life, SLPH is now part of the global AXA group and is its major subsidiary in the UK.
1998 - AXA wins sponsorship of the FA Cup
1999 - SLPH announces a public offer on GRE.
The acquisition is offered in May. AXA insurance becomes one of the UK's top three insurers.
2000 - SLPH delisted from London Stock Exchange. Buy-out of the minority holdings by
AXA complete.

Biography: Homer joined the AXA Group in August 1998. He is also a director of AXA UK and a number of other AXA companies including AXA Ireland.
Prior to joining AXA Insurance, Homer worked for Commercial Union from 1971 to 1998.
He is also chairman of the Motor Insurers' Bureau and a deputy of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

History: AXA Corporate Solutions was launched in September 2000. It comprises the former operations of AXA Re, AXA Global Risks and AXA Cessions worldwide.
Employing approximately 2,500 staff around the world, AXA Corporate Solutions is headed by
Jean-Marie Nessi and has its headquarters in Paris. Adrian Ballardie is the chief executive officer of
the UK operation.
