Company history: Domestic and General Insurance is the UK's leading specialist provider of breakdown insurance on domestic electrical appliances and gas central heating systems.

It underwrites policies for independent electrical retailers, department stores, more than 90 major appliance brands, catalogue companies and provides a telephone quoteline service. Domestic and General runs D&G Services offering call handling, volume mailing, databases and financial management.

Biography: Scrivener joined the Domestic and General group in 1985. He became a group director in 1991, DGI director in 1993 and managing director of both DGI and Domestic and General Group in 1998.
