Domestic and General has issued a pre-close trading statement for the 12 months to 31 March 2006.

The listed household appliance insurer indicated that the second half of the year saw strong revenue growth and a low claims ratio.

Domestic and General's equity portfolio has performed creditably, exceeding the benchmark 7% rate of return.

The insurer forecasts pre-tax profits to match or exceed the upper level of market expectations.
