Brit Insurance Holdings posted a 676% rise in pretax profits in its full year results for 2003.
The company said it hoped to resume dividend payments earlier than expected subject to High Court approval of its capital reorganisation.
For the year ending 31 December 2003, Brit said its profits rose to £77.6m, up from £10m for the previous year.
Gross written premiums increased 53.3% to £1.015bn. Brit said it had a target of £1.3bn for gross written premium in 2004.
