A potential precursor to the Millennium Bug has been dismissed as a "miniscule" problem by a leading computer expert.

Today's date of 9/9/99 had been feared for posing huge difficulties to computers. But Robin Guenier, of the government's Taskforce 2000, dismissed the fears. He said the problem was akin to digging a hole for a rose bush compared with excavating the Channel Tunnel in terms of the scale of the Millennium Bug/Y2K problems just around the corner.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
