Direct Line may have few friends in the aggregator world, but should the roving hordes descend, at least it will have a speedy getaway.

Welsh aggregator Gocompare.com turned up at the insurer’s head offices with a courtesy car, highlighting the fact that Direct Line’s standard policies do not include the use of one.

The driver had a somewhat disingenuous letter for the marketing director saying: “If you’re ever unlucky enough to be in an accident and your car is being repaired, we would not want you to find yourself stuck without transport.”

Rumours that Direct Line returned the gesture by sending a giant telephone on wheels to Wales proved ill-founded.
