ABI wants proposals implemented 'as a package and in full'
The ABI has thrown its weight behind the Jackson Review of civil litigation costs.
The government has promised to consult this autumn on taking forward Lord Justice Jackson’s recommendations, bar its proposals to curb referral fees.
But in a speech at a conference in Leeds on Monday, ABI assistant director of motor and liability James Dalton said Jackson must be implemented as a whole.
He said: “We want to see the Jackson recommendations implemented as a package and in full, and we would like to see this delivered in an ambitious but realistic timeframe.”
He added that the ABI also wanted a review of the current level of guideline hourly rates for civil litigation lawyers to end the 30% disparity between claimant and defendant lawyers’ costs.
