Trade body names its first tech and innovation associate

The ABI has appointed former Insurance Times executive director Shân Millie as its first tech and innovation associate.

ABI director general Huw Evans announced the appointment at the ABI’s annual conference today.

Evans said: “The innovation theme of this conference is why I am delighted to welcome Shân to the ABI as our new tech and innovation associate. She brings with her considerable experience and enthusiasm for engagement in this challenging sphere. We look forward to working closely with Shân to showcase our member’s creativity and competitiveness over the coming months.”

Millie added: “Bringing an ‘outside-in’ approach to ongoing ABI activities will help develop a more consistent pace and focus. The aim is to create a credible and sustainable leadership position that enhances the whole sector’s reputation for creativity, competitiveness and customer focus.”

Millie was publishing director of Insurance Times between 2008 and 2013, subsequently becoming executive director of both Insurance Times and its group, Newsquest Specialist Media.

Millie founded consulting firm Bright Blue Hare in May 2016 after leaving Newsquest Specialist Media. The firm helps its clients devise business, marketing and content strategies.

 

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
