The Association of Local Authority Risk Managers (ALARM) has welcomed Home Office plans to allocate £33m to 180 CCTV schemes in England and Wales.
Tony Chapman, Building Programme Manager for Peterborough City Council, will outline the success of his own council's award-winning CCTV system at the annual ALARM conference at the University of Warwick on 17 April.
The state-of-the-art Citisafe system was installed in Peterborough in April 1997, and has since seen a marked reduction in its crime rates . And the system, which has won four national awards, is continuing to expand within the guidelines of Peterborough's community safety strategy.
