AXA Assistance has joined other global insurance companies in offering aid to the victims of the Asian tsunami.
The company said it has offered its medical and logistical expertise to two medical establishments on the island of Phuket.
In order to open up free access to care for the local population, AXA Assistance said it would refurbish and re-open a clinic which was devastated by the waves, and provide support to a hospital located in the town centre.
It said it has sent a team of ten, including five doctors, to these locations with special resuscitation, ambulance and emergency equipment.
The company said a first instalment of €300,000 would be dedicated to the reconstruction operation and to aid for the most disadvantaged.
