Global insurance companies have pledged cash to the Asian tsunami appeal fund.
Zurich Financial Services Group announced it would provide up to $2m to countries in South East Asia affected by the catastrophe.
Zurich said the sum "will consist of a donation of $1m. In addition, the group will match up to $1m in charitable contributions made by Zurich employees."
France's AXA Group said it would assist its employees who wish to make donations, and would match employees individual donations by donating “at least $1.35m to the relief efforts.
Chubb and AIG have also established a relief fund and both said they are encouraging employees to make contributions.
