Teenagers might have web superstar Lara Croft, but the insurance industry too is fast gathering its own virtual personalities.

Among the more interesting is Western Provident Association's talking head which appears to be based on its chief executive Julian Stainton.

Julian allows visitors to seek answers to basic questions on WPA and its services. But after a semi-serious round of questions such as “How long have you worked at WPA?” – answer “since 1987”, Backchat thought he would have some fun.

When he asked What is your middle name? Julian appeared to come over befuddled and answered: “I'm not sure quite what to say to that.”

Another question, “Which football team do you support?” led to “Sorry. I don't have opinions. I'm just a computer programme.” Shame.
