Successor to Alex Moczarski to return to UK

Marsh has announced that David Batchelor will succeed Alex Moczarski as CEO of Marsh’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Batchelor is currently head of Asia Pacific for Marsh, responsible for operations in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, India, Philippines, Guam/Micronesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Pacific.

Moczarski said: “David and I have worked closely together for several years and I know he will build on the positive momentum colleagues across the region have achieved in 2007 to ensure its continuing success. His long experience over 30 years in insurance and risk management consulting across Europe, Asia and the US will be invaluable.”

Batchelor, who is set to return to the UK from Hong Kong, added: “I am excited to be returning to the UK and for the opportunity to work within such an exciting and diverse geographic region.

"The breadth of opportunity in EMEA is enormous. From accelerating our expansion in some of the world’s most exciting emerging economies to strengthening our leadership position in the more mature territories of Europe, there is a great deal of potential for profitable growth.”

Earlier this month, Dan Glaser, CEO of Marsh, Inc., appointed Mr Moczarski as President of Marsh’s International Division, which encompasses the Asia, Pacific and Latin America & Caribbean, as well as EMEA regions. The heads of all these regions will report to Moczarski.

David Bidmead will continue in his role as CEO, Pacific, based in Sydney. Alan Cheah, who was previously MD of South-East Asia operations for Marsh, has been appointed CEO, Asia. He will continue to be based in Singapore.

Thomaz Menezes will continue as CEO, Latin America and Caribbean, based in São Paulo.

Moczarski added: “International comprises an exciting, dynamic and diverse geography in which Marsh has the assets to achieve meaningful profitable growth. We will work together with Dan Glaser and his Executive team to ensure we all fulfil our potential.”
