Lloyd's managing agent Beazley is planning to raise up to £250m in a planned flotation, according to the Daily Telegraph.
According to the paper, the firm, is looking to raise the money through stockbroker Numis.
Beazley declined to comment but is understood to be engaged in raising money to be concluded by next month.
Beazley is the largest independently-owned Lloyd's managing agent, where it runs syndicate 623.
