BEI Metastorm has launched KeyBreak, a software tool to help protect companies and employees from the risks of RSI.
KeyBreak monitors the time users have been typing and advises them to take a break. It can count a specific number of keystrokes and send automatic alerts. If users ignore the warnings, the software sends another two minutes later.
BEI Metastorm's Jon Summers said: “RSI doesn't only affect companies, it puts paid to careers because sufferers are unable to work at a PC. It's easy to see how this injury takes hold. Employees concerned about meeting deadlines often stay at their desks without taking a break. This is a big problem for companies because of staff absenteeism and the ultimate cost incurred by the claims.”
