Former Renaissance Re president joins broker.
Benfield has appointed William Riker to its board of directors with effect from 1 September.
Riker, 49, will join the Board as a non executive director. He was most recently president and chief underwriting officer of Renaissance Re.
John Coldman, Chairman of Benfield said: "We are delighted to welcome Bill to the Board. His extensive experience in the converging reinsurance and capital markets will be a great asset to the Group."
Riker served at Renaissance Re as president from 1999 to 2007, senior vice president from 1995 and as vice president underwriting from 1993.
Prior to that, he held the position of senior vice president and chief underwriting officer at American Royal Reinsurance Company from 1984 to 1992.
