David Lundholm to lead new acquisitions team.

BGL has created a director position to lead its new acquisitions team.

David Lundholm, former innovation programme director at Norwich Union who joined BGL in April to lead the company's carbon-neutral insurance brand ibuyeco, will start by establishing a team to research market opportunities and consider potential synergies.

Peter Winslow, BGL group chief executive, said: “It’s a natural progression for a strong and successful company to seek further opportunities for business growth. In the current market, there are likely to be some good businesses available, and we are in a fortunate position to potentially be able to take advantage of that. It doesn’t mean, however, that we will be buying up companies imprudently – it’s definitely a case of if, not when, the right opportunity comes up.”

Lundholm is credited with having driven significant customer growth for the ibuyeco brand and led explorations into the next stage of its development. He has more than 20 years of experience in business development, growth and innovation, having worked in roles such as marketing director at PepsiCo Restaurants and Yum Brands, as well as managing director of propertyfinder.com, an online property portal and HPI, the vehicle provenance company.

BGL director Andy Bord will now manage the ibuyeco brand, along within addition to the Budget and Dial Direct brands he has been leading since May 2008.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
