Canadian astronaut among speakers confirmed for the BIBA 2018 conference

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has today announced four keynote speakers lined up for its annual conference.

On the first day of the event called Innovate Evolve Thrive, Andrew Bailey, chief executive of the FCA, and Inga Beale DBE, Lloyd’s chief executive and CII president will talk.

They will be followed by Baroness Martha Lane Fox of Soho, founder of lastminute.com, and Chris Hadfield (featured in the video below), the Canadian astronaut and social media star who will talk about his time as the commander of the International Space Station.

 

The event is in Manchester this year, from 16-17 May and will have a host of seminars, talking about subjects such as fire risk, cyber risk, mental health problems in the workplace and a session on customers from the perspective of the FCA, the FSCS and the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Steve White, BIBA’s chief executive, said: ‘We have planned the conference sessions to embrace the crucial themes of innovation and evolution. We look forward to hearing the FCA’s plans and the impact that these will have on brokers, along with the rest of the great line up of speakers.”

The event is free for all BIBA members to attend and BIBA has said it will “again host a full Young Broker Day dedicated to developing young brokers.
