Curse of the mobile revolution

Laptops and BlackBerrys are the newest poolside accessories, according to the latest seminal research by American Express Insurance Services. They also appear to be the most harmful.

The survey found that one in seven Brits were filled with dread at the prospect of being contacted at any hour of the day.

One in five claimed they were never able to ‘switch off’, and a further fifth said their BlackBerry got in the way of their social life. Unsurprisingly, the survey concluded that two in three Brits considered portable technology to be more of a hindrance than a help.
