Brightside has hired ex-rugby player Guy Horchover as head of ProSport, a subsidiary of the broker that places insurance for professional and amateur sports people.

Prior to joining ProSport Horchover has held sales and marketing roles at Aegon (2005-2015), Marsh, Willis, GE Insurance and Prudential.

In his new role Horchover will report to Brightside distribution director Colin Wallace.

Wallace said: ”I am delighted to welcome Guy to ProSport.

“His sporting pedigree makes him an excellent fit for this specialist role, and he fits Brightside’s overarching aspiration to make sure that our people who interact with our customers for specialist insurance really know what they are talking about.”

Horchover was part of the London Welsh RFC and London Wasps RFC teams in the 1980s and 1990s.

He said: “I want the brand to be renowned for excellent customer care, quality suppliers, strong range of products and competitive pricing.

“All this with an attention to detail and a profound knowledge of what makes sportspeople tick.”

ProSport places insurance for professional, semi-professional and amateur sportspeople, and their families, as well as clubs and associations.

Horchover replaces part of the ProSport team that resigned last year.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
