Brit Insurance has demonstrated its commitment to space underwriting by renewing its contract with Telesat Canada and appointing a new underwriter.

Telesat supplies Brit with technical support for its space underwriting.

Matthew Wilson, underwriting director of Brit Insurance's space division, commented: “Our unique agreement with Telesat has been instrumental in achieving our respected global lead position in this highly specialised class of business and gives us an exceptional technical and analytical resource. This new three year agreement follows 12 years of successful collaboration between our two companies and we are delighted to announce the continuation of the relationship.”

Gary Brice will leave Aon to join Brit early next year as space underwriter. He will work with Chris Gibbs, who has been promoted from space underwriter to class underwriter.

Wilson said: “We are pleased that Chris has taken up his new post and we welcome Gary to Brit Insurance. Our market-leading underwriters and the technical know-how of Telesat underline the strength of our space insurance operations and our continuing commitment to the market.”
