Wholesalers Broker Brands is planning to boost its client base to 2,000 intermediaries after forging a partnership with intermediary trade body, the AiiB, to develop a new product range.

Three new products, including a tradesman liability product, a fleet product and a non-standard motor product, will be launched in the autumn.

But the wholesale broker plans to have a portfolio of more than 30 products by next year.

Some of these will be exclusive to AiiB members, but Broker Brands also has its own client base of about 200 brokers.

In addition, the firm has just struck a deal with software house New Millennium Technologies which has a client base of about 150 brokers.

"By Christmas 2000, we hope to have a client base of about 2,000 brokers and intermediaries," said Jon Britton, Broker Brands sales manager.

"We are pleased to announce that we have had a number of meetings with the AiiB and we have been given the task of developing and servicing the AiiB product range.

"We are looking forward to developing a new range of products specifically tailored to AiiB members."

Products currently available include home and contents, travel, motor legal expenses, family legal protection, touring caravans and composure (a computer consultants package).

The products are branded to the individual intermediary and the account can be paid in 30 days like any other insurance company.

Under the deal with New Millennium Technologies, Broker Brands will be placing travel, marine and caravan products on its quote menu.

"Anyone with an agency can ask NMT to switch these additional servcies on," added Britton.
