Capita Insurance Services has announced changes to its Claims Services Division, which will result in the closure of 22 regional offices.
The closures are as a result of a new regional service infrastructure being introduced to deliver Capita's claims services across the country. The network will comprise its existing four service centres and 12 regional offices.
Bill Dye managing director of Capita Insurance Services said: "We deeply regret the impact these changes will have on a number of our staff, and will be doing everything possible to find suitable alternative opportunities for those affected."
Capita claims staff will be relocated or encouraged to work from home. A voluntary redundancy programme is also being introduced.
The following regional service centres will be utilised, including; Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Hinckley, Watford, London Dukes Place, London West End, Bristol, Redhill, Belfast.
The following offices will close; Oban, Inverness, Londonderry, Huddersfield, Bradford, Reading, Ipswich, Jersey, Isle of Man, Guildford, Aberdeen, Dundee, Carlisle, York, Sheffield, Liverpool, Exeter, Chelmsford, Portsmouth, Newcastle, Cardiff, and, Rothley.
Dye said: "The boundary between volume claims processing and skilled loss adjusting has blurred over recent years. Using skilled loss adjusters to assess small claims makes no sense, especially in the current economic climate.
"The market is demanding a new approach to claims processing and we are developing a customer-focused solution which makes financial and business sense."
