Advent Capital chairman Brian Caudle received a commemorative silver salver for 50 years' service in the Lloyd's Market from Lloyd's chairman Lord Levene.
Caudle began his career at 17 in 1952 when he joined Lloyd's broker Leslie & Godwin.
He was active underwriter of Syndicate 780 from 1974 to 1999 and formed BF Caudle Agencies in 1975. Along with Keith Thompson he set up Advent Capital in 1994 and raised £1.7m to become one of the first dedicated corporate investors in Lloyd's.
