Business software firm Cedar has acquired a majority stake in Sword Business Services, the delivery arm of Sword Consortia, for £4.4m.

The Sword Consortia is backed by a number of firms including Allianz Cornhill, Bupa, and several life assurers.

Sword Business Services provides a database to allow the consortia firms – along with their affinity group partners – to generate targeted marketing campaigns.

Cedar Group chief executive Mike Harrison, said: "By including integrated data management, customer management, call centre systems, process management and financial management, this offers a solution to a number of organisations who are faced with improving their competitiveness, while reducing operating costs."
