Chaucer writing business in new international liability division

Lloyd's insurer Chaucer today said its new international liability division is now accepting business.

Mark Lawrence has taken up his role at Chaucer Syndicate 1084, after joining from Argo International earlier in the year. He will head up the new division.

The rest of the team includes specialist class underwriters Ian Noble for professional indemnity, Mark Aaron for general liability, together with strong support from James Mecham, Stephen Bushell and Stephanie Copp. Gill Fort will provide claims expertise.

The international liability division will focus on professional and general liability insurance. Its 2011 business plan has been approved by Lloyd's, enabling it to write business up to a maximum line size of £15m.

Mark Lawrence, head of international liability division for Chaucer Syndicate 1084, said: “I am delighted to join Chaucer to lead the new international liability division.

"We have established an excellent team that is intent on developing a market leading account, through a dedication to underwriting and claims expertise, and the highest levels of service.”

John Fowle, active underwriter for Chaucer Syndicate 1084, added: “Our new international liability division compliments our existing specialist lines portfolio and supports our vision of being the Lloyd’s specialist insurer of choice."
