Howard Posner, the chief executive of Halifax General Insurance, branded the argument that offshoring increases the level of skill in the industry as “nonsense and lies”.

But, speaking at the CII conference, AXA commercial distribution director Mark Cliff said that offshoring was not de-skilling. “The calibre of individuals is very high in India. They are generally 2:1 graduates.”

Pierre Lefevre, chairman and chief executive of Groupama said: “The problem is that we don't give an incentive to those who are interested in training and we don't value skills as much as we should. If we tell people that we can do their job 60% cheaper in India, it doesn't put a lot of value on the skills that they have.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
