The CII has made its Foundation Insurance Test (FIT) available online for the first time in a move to help the industry prepare for regulation, it said.
FIT online is designed to be taken on a company's premises at a date and time of their choosing, it said.
The CII's FIT is the recognised entry-level study course for those staff starting their insurance careers. It requires candidates to demonstrate their understanding of key insurance issues including fundamental principles and procedures, and the major product categories.
CII marketing director Steve Wellard said: “FIT serves a vital purpose in developing the basic knowledge needed by staff in today's insurance market.
“FIT provides the ideal solution and by adding the online testing service to our existing options makes it a more convenient proposition for companies. It is a service that we will be increasingly introducing across our courses.”
In order to access the online service, companies register with the CII to use the online exam facility and are sent a software programme needed to access the service.
Following a simple installation, testing and validation procedure the company notifies the CII, within the prescribed timescales, each time they have candidates needing to sit the test. The existing study and revision aids remain unchanged.
The test is sat under normal exam conditions, however results are fed back instantaneously on completion. Those who pass FIT receive a ‘Record of Achievement' from the CII and six credits towards higher level CII qualifications.
